http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=21458.0Hello Everybody
Sorry for my bad english, i hope you can understand it.
Something horrible ist happen this week for me, i cant believe it , how stupid i was.
In Europe, Switzerland is now the Football Europe Match;-(
I was on a match and drink so much alcohol and then the mistake in my life is happen:
I move so drunken in the red-light district and had with 3 Womens unprotected vaginal Sex, in the morning i realise the horror, minimun 2 of the girls use Drugs, i dont know if they use i.v drugs, but 100 % they take cocaine in thery nose.
Its so crazy this Women are from the Street prostitution, the highest risk for hiv.
24 Hour Later i call the Hospital and write to an HIV Doc.
i Found Informations about the PEP for HIGH RISK Situations, i tell this the doctor but he says to me:
Yes the time for PEP ist ok for you(tell something about 72 Hour) but i dont want give you PEP because the Risk ist not Big to contract HIV.he tell me 7 % of de Girls who use i.v Drugs are HIV + and the risk is 1:300 that i contactet the HI Virus, 1:300? oh my god this is so much.
Now 6 days after the horror Day i sleeped only 2 days and cant eat and did work in the office, its so shameful what happen.
I still wait now for the primary Symtoms of HIV, look every Hour on my body.
I see on the Internet some Informationes about de PCR HIV Test . if the Test after 15 -20 is Postiv or Negativ i can be secured . Is this true?
Sorry for my bad english ;-( I hope you can understand me, now i go to the drug store and buy sleeping pill, i must sleep.
It was now a big failing that the doctor dont give the PEP, because it was ah ultra high Risk Situations ;-(
Im so shameful for this day, its not ok to buy girls
Dear 08,How about as you read this you take a nice, deep and slow breath in and then out. And then do it a second time. I mean it! And do that everytime you find yourself tensing up. Good breathing really, really helps to calm things down.
Now, as far as your situation goes. Wringing your hands and worrying about what ifs is just a waste of your energy.
There are some things you ought to know. HIV is a fragile virus. It is not easy to transmit. It is much more difficult to transmit from female to male. Yes, of course you were at risk having unprotected intercourse. But the odds are still significantly in your favor that you will come out of this ok when you test at 13 weeks. And 13 weeks is when you should have the standard ELISA test done to get a reliable result.
As far as using a PCR, that is NOT recommended. Although it is a highly sensistive test it was NOT designed for diagnoistic purposes. Becuase of its high sensitivity it frequently gives a FALSE positive. So you are going to have to be patient and wait out the time to get tested at 13 weeks. The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure to the virus. So if you want you can test at6 weeks. Assuming you get a negative then, you should still re-test at 13 weeks.
In the meantime while you are waiting, instead of indulging in all sorts of drama, you need to turn your attention to other things in your life. Don't tell me you are too upset to do that. Just DO IT! Meantime you are likely to be watching for "symtoms" or "signs" of HIV. That's another waste of time because so-called symptoms tell you nothing accurately about your HIV status. So don't get on to that slippery slope because you'll really drive yourself crazy that way.
So breathe and get busy with other things. I expect you to come out of this ok. And you must learn from this experience that mixing excessive alcohol and casual sex is a dangerous combination.
Good luck on your test and keep us posted.
Cheers,
Hi Andythanks for your nice answer

Im now back in my Appartment ,in still under "shock" every second i think about it what happens, it was the darkest day in this year, unbelievable .
Ok, i dont know hows the Situation in the US about the Testing , in Austria is the PCR a fast way to find out if the HI Virus is avaible or not, the doctor tell me i must wait 14 days to test. Then after 13 Weeks for 100 % the Antibody Testing.
But i think it will be a dark day, it must happen , the deal with HIV, it was not a girl or girlfriend, 3 Girls from a high risk sector, they have every day unprotected Sex with Mens, unbelievable that i was there on Monday
I dont understand why de doctor DONT give the PEP (Postexposure Prophylaxis for HIV) to me , it was a so high Situation the unpro. vaginal Sex

Now its to late

I try it
I suggest you do the PCR at 28 days. Prior to that can be too early. And you need to remember that because of its high level of sensitivity it can easily give a false positive.
Re PEP, well that's past and there's nothing good to be gained by dwelling on that. I find that it's always best to deal with what is and move on rather than lingering over the past.

Desperate,
As Andy pointed out in his first post, PCR testing is not approved for diagnostic purposes. All you really need is an antibody test, and the earliest you should test is at the six week point.
You need to know that no matter what result you get from a PCR, you still MUST be tested for antibodies at the appropriate time. PCR testing in your case would be a waste of time and money.
If you insist on having a PCR done, make sure it is an
RNA-PCR test. The DNA test is very prone to false positives but the RNA is a little better.
Again, ANY PCR result MUST be confirmed, one way or another, with antibody testing at the appropriate time.
While you have had a risk, I agree with the doctor who told you PEP was not necessary. You have an excellent chance of testing hiv negative without PEP.
